BioI teach in the Centre for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cape Town. Over the past four years, I've been involved in setting up this new department, and have initiated new courses in interactive media, online journalism and animation. My research focuses on literacy issues and online media in developing countries. My PhD in computer science is an ethnographic study of online gaming communities. I set up this blog primarily to stay in touch with colleagues from Brazil, Canada, Australia, and Greece who're participating in a new research project with me.
